According to a LinkedIn global survey, 80 per cent of professionals consider networking to be important to career success. In addition, 70 per cent of people surveyed were hired at a company where they had a connection.

Networking can help you improve skills sets, keep on top of the latest trends, provide insight into the job market, meet potential mentors, partners and clients and generally further your understanding of your sector and profession.

Networking is not just about exchanging information, but it’s about establishing long-term beneficial relationships with people who share some of the challenges and experiences you do.

However, the study did reveal that 38 per cent found it hard to stay in touch with their network in-person, and the leading cause of this was because they didn’t have enough time.
